20th Television is currently developing a brand new drama pilot, “Will Trent”, which is based on Karin Slaughter’s bestselling book series which tells the story of Will Trent (played by Ramón Rodríguez), who is a special agent at the Georgia Bureau of Investigations was abandoned at birth and endured a harsh coming-of-age in Atlanta’s overwhelmed foster care system. But now, determined to use his unique point of view to make sure no one is abandoned like he was, Trent has the highest clearance rate in the GBI.

According to THR, Erika Christensen has been cast as the lead female character, Angie, an Atlanta police detective and Will’s on-and-off girlfriend. Angie is described as someone who’s seen it all but can still crack jokes about the bleak world of being a cop. She and Will have been friends since both were kids in a group home, but she struggles with addiction and has yet to confront the traumas of her childhood.

Erika Christensen has previously starred in ABC’s “Ten Days In The Valley” and the recent Disney+ Original, “Cheaper By The Dozen”.

The project has been cleared for production and is being written by Liz Heldens and Dan Thomsen, who are also producing the series along with the author of the book, Karin Slaughter.

Karin Slaughter’s book series consists of ten novels, the first novel was called “Triptych,” and was published in 2006 and the most recent entry in the series is called “The Silent Wife,” was released last year.

Should this pilot get the go-ahead, we should expect to see the series released on ABC and Hulu in the United States. Internationally, this would be released as a Star Original on Disney+.
