Disney’s ABC has ordered a pilot to be made for the single-camera comedy “The Son In Law”, which is about a salt-of-the-earth man who finds himself seeking the approval of his new fiancée’s sophisticated parents, even as he is a difficult-to-impress father-in-law to his daughter’s longtime boyfriend.

This new show has been written and executive produced by Ajay Sahgal (The Carmichael Show), with Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar also executive producing the show.  They are the duo behind such series as ABC’s “Fresh Off the Boat” and Disney+’s Doogie Kamealoha M.D'”, plus the upcoming Disney+ series “American Born Chinese”.

Should the series be given the go-ahead after the pilot, we should expect to see “The Son In Law” arrive on ABC and Hulu in the US and internationally on Disney+/Star+.

What do you think of this new series idea?
