During the last Walt Disney Investors conference call, Bob Iger announced that they would be making reboots for a number of 20th Century Fox family franchises for Disney+, including Home Alone.

Now the Observer has reported that Dan Mazer is in talks to direct the film, who has previously directed “Who Is America”.  And the script is being co-written by Saturday Night Live’s Mikey Day and Streeter Seidel.   It will also see Hutch Parker and Dan Wilson producing the film, which is set to start work in February 2020.

The story will follow a husband and wife who go to war with a young boy, Max, who has stolen from them.  Max is being described as an energetic, witty nine-year-old boy with a mischievous side. He feels wise beyond his years and has the personality to easily converse with adults—plus the uncanny ability to relentlessly push their buttons. But, he also displays a sense of innocence and a kind heart much like the original protagonist.

Disney are looking for a big name actor to play the female lead, however no official details on the new Home Alone Disney+ film has been announced.
