More details on the upcoming Marvel Studios Disney+ Exclusive series, Loki, look to have been revealed and could have a major impact on the upcoming movie, Thor: Love and Thunder.

Very little about the upcoming Loki series has been announced, but we do know it will follow the events of Avengers: Endgame, where the heroes went back in time to the battle of New York from the original Avengers movie and interfered in the time line, resulting in Loki escaping with the Space Infinity Stone.

Concept art was shown back at April’s Investor Day, showing Loki standing in New York city in the 1970’s and recently FandomWire acquired a new production logline for the series:

The series follows Loki after the events in Avengers: Endgame as the trickster uses the power of the Tesseract to travel throughout human history and change historical events

This means there is an alternative time line with Loki, that the events of Thor: The Dark World, Thor: Ragnarok and more importantly his death in Avengers: Infinity War, never happened.  So the “reformed” Loki has never happened and the Loki we see in the new series will be more like we saw in the original Avengers and Thor movie.

The alternative timeline could have a big impact on the events of Thor: Love and Thunder, which will see Jane Foster take up the mantle of Thor.  Since the events of Loki could see Jane Foster come from an alternative timeline, or that Thor’s magical hammer, Mjölnir, which we saw destroyed in Thor: Ragnarok by Hela and was returned in time by Captain America after Endgame after he used it to defeat Thanos.

Filming on the new series is due to begin in early 2020 and Loki will be coming to Disney+ in Spring 2021 and sees Tom Hiddleston return to the role of the trickster.   With Thor: Love and Thunder coming to cinemas in November 2021.

Do you think Loki will tie into the Thor: Love and Thunder?
